As progressives, all of our leaders will turn to dust in the end. This is what happens when you have brave citizens who willingly place themselves in the belly of the beast, hoping to affect positive and necessary change from within.
Those I speak of are the brave men and woman that knowingly sacrifice themselves, their everlasting soul, AND their sanity in order to try and work within a corruption festered, core rotting system for the purposes of creating safer, healthier communities for their constituents. But unfortunately, prolonged exposure to the rot and hypocrisy of such a corrosive system will eventually cause a mental breakdown in the form of complacency, denial, indoctrination, and eventually... corruption.
This condition of mental breakdown is mostly unrecognizable to the afflicted. They simply stop looking in the mirror and learn the official political craft of artful dodging and denial. Their political mentors...the actual purveyors of such dogma and propaganda, are horribly relentless. So much so, that a person on the inside...however honorable in their intent...will slowly succumb to the deliberate and systematic political gas lighting that has become commonplace within our capitalist political arena. And so, they too become casualties of the class war, corrupted by the very system they vowed to change.
In light of these revelations, I have concluded that the voice of a politician should never be trusted.
The voice of any politician.
On any side.
But the voice of a collective, an entire progressive movement- that is the horse of a much different color.
The Progressive Movement is the true voice of the people. It is the voice of the underprivileged and over marginalized, the woefully underappreciated working classes, and the diverse cultural populations demanding respect, consideration, and finally...a seat at the proverbial table.
The Progressive Movement gives voice to the voiceless.
It is the song of the Planet and her creatures, and a supersonic symphony of scientific research flying in the face of dullard science deniers.
The Progressive Movement has become a death knell for all those lying, bitter, snake oil salesmen representing the huge, over-bloated (two-party-but-really-just-one) political party of the land, resource, and wealth hoarders.
In other words, the Progressive Movement is the articulate voice of the 99 percent.
As progressives, we must realize the importance of recognizing how truly unimportant a "figurehead" leader is. The movement that realizes this truth will become the movement that is less corruptible and more transparent. It will endure.
Just as important, the movement that calls out corruption from within is the movement that gives credence and credibility to its own mission and purpose. We must always be ready and willing to clean up our own back yards first.
There is no I in team. The collective voice of any social justice movement should always be louder than any one citizen.
So WE keep on talking and listening.
WE continue teaching and mentoring.
WE perpetuate the vision and build momentum.
WE continue to provide a voice for those seeking representation.
WE continue to hold accountable any and all servant leaders in office, even and ESPECIALLY if they are representing our combined progressive voices.
And WE honor those that help the cause along the way with their needed leadership, and WE recognize with love when it's time to continue on without them.
And that, progressive brothers and sisters, is how you build a successful, social justice movement that will finally eclipse the corporate America bullshit rhetoric, and help sow the seeds for a more evolved, compassionate and enlightened society.
As progressives, we believe there is a better, more sustainable way, and we're strong enough to make it happen, sooner rather than later. So take note, and adjust your actions accordingly.
May Health, Prosperity, Balance and MUCH LOVE come to you during these very strange, uncertain times-
K
